| Undergraduate and
Vocational Scholarship Scheme (UVSS) 2003-2006
|
In 2000, British Council India launched their first Undergraduate and Vocational Scholarship Scheme (UVSS). It was such a resounding success that the scheme has continued ever since and it is with pleasure that we announce it’s extension from 2003 to 2006.
During 2002/03 academic year there were approximately 10,000 Indian
students studying in the UK; of whom approximately 40% were studying
school qualifications, vocational qualifications or undergraduate
courses. For many of these students the experience of studying in
the UK will change there lives and provide them with the opportunity
to be the best they can be. British Council, India are committed
to making UK education as accessible to as many Indian students
as possible and we hope this scholarships scheme will help make
this a reality.
Supporting the initiative are more than sixty universities and
colleges with particular interests in India, who have come together
to offer scholarships, bursaries and fee reductions for school level
study, further education (vocational and professional courses) and
undergraduate courses. The scheme is a major commitment by the UK
to opening the doors of UK education to India and British Council,
India is very grateful to all those who have.
